The following is a textbook I wrote for a twelfth grade English class in Japan. The class met fifty minutes a week for approximately thirty two weeks. This book has four chapters, each of which is designed to take one to two months. My preferred speed is about two pages each fifty minute class.
Language study can be divided into four parts: reading, speaking, listening, and writing. Where reasonable, we try to make use of and develop all four of these skills. Through practice, students can become well rounded and increasingly proficient at expressing themselves in English and more generally in their lives.
